Too Different to Love is a strong title - emotional, haunting, and it immediately sets the tone for a psychological family drama centered on isolation, misunderstanding, and sibling resentment. It works especially well for a story about an autistic girl because it reflects how she feels treated, not who she truly is. That gives the title emotional weight and makes readers curious about her perspective and what happened between the sisters.

Xue Ge, delinquent transfer student, just wanted to score the most beautiful girl in class. Because, well, he's 16. Jennifer, said beauty, wanted to hurl Xue Ge into outer space. She had eyes for someone else. Matthias, said someone else, has autism. We're not sure what he was thinking. Sorry, Matt. Their emerging feelings for each other threatens to tear them apart. So now all Xue Ge wants is to keep his two best friends. But a green van rolling into school threatens to take even that away. This is a slightly different Malaysian love story. Being different in a land that demands conformity can be tough, but these three young lives are willing to give their all to stay together.

I am a 19 year old girl with autism. As autistic person there are a lot of things non-autistic people can tell you. Some are out of curiosity while others might be intended to offend you. In this book I will discuss 11 things that people with autism are tired of hearing from non-autistic poeple. In each chapter I will give a repsonse to these things by adding some experiences of my own life. Please share your own experiences, whether you are autistic or not, in the comments. I am always curious to read what other people think.

Violet Davies: the older twin by 45 seconds. Avid artist, not so avid social butterfly. She has to come to terms with her new-ish autism diagnosis when she and her family move towns, forcing her to deal with the change from her old art school--even if the people there caused her havoc--to the big, surrounded by rolling hills ritzy Green Acres High School--and how her autism plays a part in that, while remembering she is autistic, but she is other things too. Trevor Davies: varsity basketball captain, the younger twin by 45 seconds, but who has always felt a need to be protective. Not just of his sister, but of everyone, especially himself. The scars his father left him are internal, but they ache as if they weren't. What happens when he is forced to deal with his feelings, his vices stripped from him? Sonia Katz: A confident, self-assured, but kind aspiring tattoo artist and lesbian. She meets Violet, and has to grapple the task of telling her dicey parents who she is as she falls for the shy, yet expressive girl. These three individuals, as different as their destinations may seem, have to work through their own struggles, and help each other along the way.

"Feliciano would be my age, but...Fate chose otherwise." It might be an accident, but it still matters. Lovino knows. So does Feli - but being dead makes it a little hard to see. Two years on, Lovino's fine with just his brother's ghost for company. But a girl with a haunted house, and a book full of other people's words might change fine into fantastico. Updated tomorrow!

The title speaks for itself. Unlike autistic people, who according to Autism Speaks, can't speak for ourselves. Go figure. (Not satire.) (I made this more for myself than anyone else.) (You're welcome.)
