Harua is the first to figure out the obvious. Do not chase the cat. The cat is befriendable. All Harua has to do is get the cat to trust him, to genuinely enjoy his company, and he can hang out with the cat. He may even eventually be allowed to touch the cat. The cat will freely let him take the key.
