In 1931, Vera Manse was separated from her sister after the last economic hope for her family had slipped from her mother's fingers. While her sister Arelle was able to live with their lively Aunt Pearl, Vera was sent to live with an old woman, but that didn't go as well as her parents thought it would. Soon orphaned and alone, Vera has to find her away around the streets, surviving off of thieving and evading capture from criminals. Seven years later, she's able to go home to her aunt and sister. Yet, after unexpected events send them on a cross-country road trip where things never go as planned, it becomes more and more difficult for Vera to hide old scars. I shifted back utterly disgusted by the fruity smell. Raspberry or blueberry. "Be in limits." I gritted. Her bubble burst and she closed her eyes tightly before opening them up again. "I'll try my best." She said, her tongue putting the bubble gum back into her mouth. "Disgusting." I looked away, feeling awful. "Disgustingly yours."
