**A cross-continental death race. A Scottish kid in a Ya-HOO hoodie. Two billion dollars. Ten thousand graves.**
In 2026, history buff Vina Linda revives Australia's darkest legend: the Steel Ball Run. What he sees as poetry, others see as a graveyard. Riders sign death waivers knowing they might not make it from Canberra's Parliament House to Perth's finish line.
**Ethan Chingli**, 17, just wants to escape his Canberra suburb and feel the wind. He doesn't know people die in this race.
**Gi-O**, 15, signed up by his parents for "educational bonding." His oversized hoodie says *Ya-HOO!* with a laughing fox. His voice is high-pitched and unapologetic. He dances through the outback.
**Eliza Biggi** thought it was a TV show until she met Ethan. Now she's racing beside him, trading dry jokes with Gi-O, not knowing the storm that's coming.
**Tony Johnson** carries his family name-the man who massacred ten riders in 1945 and died at the finish line. This Johnson obeys the rule named after his bloodline. And wins.
**Vina Linda** watches from afar, mirrored sunglasses hiding his eyes. "Blood is just red ink," he says. His mother calls him from Colombia.
From quiet Canberra suburbs to the endless Nullarbor, three kids form a bond that survives Goulburn, Port Augusta, and thirst. Until the flood comes.
**One survives. Two don't.**
**The Ya-HOO hoodie makes it home. They don't.**
*Dark. Honest. Australian.*
