But when her Father dies, and her siblings start digging into things they shouldn't, she can't help but feel that maybe there's a reason why her family always hated her. At twenty-one, Ben lives in a world of precise lines and quiet patterns. He is non-verbal, autistic, and currently trapped in a physical nightmare. A rotting tooth has turned his jaw into a source of agonizing pain, but the help available is a different kind of torture. Traditional dentists are a storm of high-pitched kindness, invasive small talk, and chaotic waiting rooms. For Ben, the wait for a specialist sedation clinic is eighteen months long - time he doesn't have. Desperate, Deborah scours the internet for a suitable dentist for Ben. She reads reviews of every practice finding each one unhelpful. But then she finds Rose Avenue. Dr. Martin Vane. The reviews describe him as clinical, blunt, and eerily precise. They speak of a man who runs a silent clinic where efficiency is god and bedside manner is non-existent. He sounds perfect. He sounds like the only man Ben might actually let touch him. But when she takes the leap and travels to Rose Avenue, Deborah discovers that reputation and reality have begun to drift apart. The sanctuary she expected is under threat, and the clinical silence she was promised is being drowned out by a world that values pleasantries over precision. With Ben's pain reaching a breaking point, Deborah is forced to go beyond the local clinics and hunt for the Stone Man herself.

This isn't Tiff Sheridan's best day. Not only is it a muggy and humid July, but her rat stole a golf cart, her least-favorite Black Robes Division agent showed up at the police station, and now she absolutely has to go to a tiny town across the Canadian border to track down a necromancer and serial killer named Boris Covington. Plus, Kepler ate poison and she can't stop botching social situations. It's par for the course, but that doesn't mean she likes it. Neither does Elton Castle, a local from Beaverdell, Canada. Reeling from a botched social endeavor of his own and-- relatedly-- pining for his American best friend, Elton is looking for a paranormal distraction from his current romantic woes, a fun way to spend his day off, and an eventual escape from his mother's house. If that involves ghosts, then so be it. He and his trusty right-hand-dog, Dingus, have definitely seen weirder things. With Elton determined to figure out who this freaky American girl Dale Cooper-ing his town really is and what she's up to and Tiff frantically trying to find Boris Covington, defend Elton, and keep her cool in the face of a returning foe, the slow burn of the murderous necromancer's sticky, papayous influence eats the wick toward the wax and begs the question: do they sell pancakes at Canadian diners? Why do you think they wouldn't? Can you survive your own death and still call yourself human? What's inside the most haunted house in Beaverdell?

The disappearance of a friend, along with millions of francs' worth of wine, interrupts David's buying trip in France. When he stays to assist and comfort his friend's wife, Catherine, their lives are threatened. As the danger intensifies, they are drawn closer together, uncovering buried traumas, insecurities, and longings. This is a tale of mounting tension, realisation, and passion, woven through a gripping crime thriller set on the Burgundy canals and in the French wine trade of the 1980s. Although this is a work of fiction, most of the locations, adventures, and characters are real or based on reality. David's behaviour and relationships are influenced by his autism, alexithymia, and asexuality, all of which were far less understood when this story is set, and I write of these from my own experience. The reminiscences, stories, and timeline draw on events from my own life, though they are sometimes slightly rearranged to suit the crafting of this novel. Fortunately, the crimes and the criminals are fictional, and any resemblance to actual people or events is purely coincidental.
