Autismawareness Stories

As a general rule, very few people who do not have autism have any idea how the condition actually affects people. That being said, this is nobody's fault considering the fact that very few people, those affected included, fully understand the condition. However, I would like to explain what aspects of it that I can. This is something that I have wanted to do for a while now and I finally worked up the nerve to do after I was told that, "everyone is a little autistic, just like everyone is a little gay." I feel like the person who said this didn't mean anything bad by it, just that we're all a little different but it jolted me into action and this book was born. I will be making a few posts about certain aspects of the condition myself, but I am also here to answer any questions that people may have.

Alex Fester is just like any other teenage girl. Except she's autistic and hopelessly in love with her best friend.

JAKE is about a teenage girl who is moving into JakeTown College and finds this difficult as she is Autistic, lesbian and transgender. Due to these difficulties he is bullied by her college peers. After a while she stands up in front of everybody in the college common room to help everybody to understand these problems in her day to day life. As an Autistic author, I have taken the bullying from my own past experiences. I am not transgender in real life, but due to some of my friends being transgender or gay, I thought that I would raise awareness of 2 very different ways of life. Despite me not being transgender or gay, I have several friends who are within the LGBTQ+ community. I have consulted LGBTQ+ topics and issues with them. These several friends are only a few experiences within the community. I am not taking anything away from gay or transgender authors.

The residential is a story about an Autistic BoyAutistic Boy called Jake Lindsay who goes on a residential with his mates as part of Warrington Youth Club's National Citizen service course to open door activity centre in St Asaph in Wales. Will he survive, find out

"How could you love me? I'm too different.." Harry Styles (29) has struggled with autism his whole life. He hates being different. He tries to live a normal life to the best of his ability. He's never been himself around anyone besides his mother and step-father. That is until he meets Juliette Foster (25). Juliette gets Harry, and he grows quite fond of her. But he has it in his head that nobody can love him, because of his disability.

We were trying for so long to find normal that we forgot what it was. Forever we searched, we survived, we sacrificed, but in the end we had us. Us was a strange, very unlikely group of people. We didn't have much except secrets, sarcasm, and an endless amount of obstacles; but despite it all we had an epic story that was cut too short.

Seeing the world a new way

Carolina Rivera is a victim who has been diagnosed with autism and she experiences many difficult situations such as bullying. A magazine article decided they have wanted to here her side of the story of what it is like finding out about her autism and dealing with the fact that she gets treated differently because of it. Is it hard? Of course, not everything in life is very easy to pass up on.

"Have you seen him? He's so weird" "Who?" "That Sissy dude!" "That's not nice, sure he's a littl..." "No, like that's like, his name" "Oh, well, he's cute." Sisyphus was born with an unfortunate name, especially knowing that he's hispanic. He was always known as being a bit strange, he would cry when someone made eye contact, he would cover his ears even in relative silence, he would yell at people for cursing, and he would never call people by their names. Everyone knew that despite his abnormalities, he was kind. He would remember everyone's birthday and would draw a birthday card for everyone, filling it with at least a 50$ gift card, and would simply say, "yay, existence" when delivering them. Whenever someone cried, he would hold their hands and say, "you're okay, or you will be, and tomorrow we're going to go to the diner, promise". It was weird, but every single thing about him was soft, childish, and kind. Everyone knew but nobody understands , he has autism. Who's better for the loving boy than a guy who needs a lesson in kindness (and in Spanish class)?

Ace Mitchell is an eighteen year old boy who goes to Savanna District High. He likes calm environments and simple colors. He likes self-expression but doesn't like the attention that comes along with it. He has a few friends that love him unconditionally and has a good life at home. He gets okay grades and hasn't gotten any failing grades. And he has autism. You could never tell due to how normal he is but he does have autism and it does affect him. He's irritable to loud sounds and hates being in small or crowded areas. He doesn't want to be touched. It's not so visible and if you didn't know the symptoms and behaviors of autism, you would never know he had it. All you would know is, he doesn't have "normal" behavior. This isn't based on any true stories nor do I myself have autism but my cousin's son, along with two friends of mine, have autism and I will do my best to do research so I don't butcher Ace and his behavior.
