Original story based on the narrative of The Weeknd's highly anticipated debut, "House of Balloons". Part 1 of 3 in my upcoming Weeknd-inspired series.

Life isn't always great. Some people get that, most do not. For Phoenix Andrews, all she has known is what most like to call "The Poor Life". Her father was murdered when she was only 10, her brother died in war when she was 14, and her mother has severe brain cancer. Life isn't always easy, and that's how Phoenix grew up. Now, in her senior year of high school, Phoenix runs into a boy. Now, not just any boy, the one and only Everest Collins. He is known to be harsh and cruel, but Phoenix is the only on to have the guts to befriend him. But behind every smile holds a secret.

During the bombing of the World Trade Center in September 2001, Driselle and her boyfriend, Derek go to LA. They get on one of the planes and ultimately end up crashing in a field in Pennsylvania, as the pilot was taken over by terrorists. Driselle was one of the unrecorded survivors of the plane crash. She is left wandering the Pennsylvania plains, too shy to ask for help, with nothing but a few balloons. She finds a quirky, rich Walmart cashier, whom she ends up befriending, named Marisa. The two girls wander the plains together, in search of someone who will help them.

I kicked the examination table and the other chairs in the room, I threw papers from the desk onto the floor, and finally I threw the door open and ran through the hallways, knowing my mother and the doctor were chasing after me. I turned a corner and ran into the lobby. A few people stared at me, and I ran outside, not caring where I was headed. I just had to escape this. But the harsh reality was that I couldn't escape it. I was dying.

Once upon a time in a quaint little town, there lived a group of friends who loved nothing more than spreading joy and laughter. Among them was Lily, a spirited girl with a heart as colorful as the balloons she adored. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the real magic began. Glow-in-the-dark balloons illuminated the night, casting a dreamy glow over the festivities. Lily stood amidst the glowing balloons, her eyes sparkling with joy as she realized that happiness was simply a balloon away. The party stretched into the night, with music, dance, and endless laughter. Friends bonded over shared balloon mishaps and whispered dreams under the starlit sky. Each balloon seemed to carry a wish, a hope, a moment of pure delight.
