Ollie and Sam have known each other since they were little. They're next door neighbors and Sam is best friends with Ollie's twin brother, Jake. It's during their senior year of high school when Sam needs Ollie to help him by being his dance partner in their ballroom class. Ollie agrees, but doesn't realize how hard it is going to be to keep her emotions in check when it comes to Sam. She's loved this boy since the third grade when he stood up to bullies that were being mean to her. But what she doesn't realize is that Sam may have a secret of his own. That he's been harboring the same feelings towards her, but can't act on them because of Jake, his best friend and her twin brother. What will happen to these two when they have to dance in each others arm everyday until they're performance? They may possibly fall in love.

Cheerleaders & Football players. That is who rule our fucking school. Then there is us, the band people. Most commonly known as the band geeks. I'm a freshman but I know how this school works. I hang out with mostly guys because girls are over rated. Too much fucking drama. And while everyone can drool over the hot senior football player, I'll spend my year getting close with the senior's bad boy. Witch may I remind you is a band geek as well. Hell does he know how to make a girl feel good. But I don't wanna be some fucking one night stand of his, and I know exactly how to make that happen...

This means a new town, a new school, and of course, a new band. The problem is, he's coming in late, and now he'll have to fit in to a new band family without the benefit of being drum major. *** These are just early developmental sketches for a new stand alone short, I'm writing in the "Just Rigby" universe. If you've read Just Rigby (aka titled Because in its published form), you know that Ellis, the main character of THIS story, plays a small, but significant, role in Rigby's journey in her novel. This is a short story about Ellis and HIS journey and takes place AFTER the events in Just Rigby (aka Because). Each part is an exploration and will eventually end up in published form, but for now, enjoy reading about Ellis and his journey into a new band family on the other side of the country.

During situations like shattering of the entire family because of the father cheating on the oh so innocent mom, you expect your seventeen year old daughter to act reasonably, responsibly and most of all, supporting-ly. That is, if your daughter is not Cassandra Dirksen, who has never been able to handle such times well. Cass just wants to get some solid ground below her wobbly legs but a layer of clouds just doesn't fit the definition of solid. And to make the situation worse, she is forced to board a plane that is just 12 hours away from landing in the city where most of the people, if not everyone, is high on love. Seeing her father smiling in his wedding tuxedo at a woman who is not her mom walking down the aisle, with her having no hand to hold while she sobs, is not exactly what Cass had in mind. But when she meets an extremely cute and flirty Reece James, and has the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop for their story, she can't resist the pull. Maybe, just maybe, she wouldn't have to face it all alone. After all, who can ever resist love in the city of love?
