This compilation of poems and short stories were inspired by Harlem Renaissance artists such as: Langston Hughes, Zora Neale-Hurston, Claude McKay, Lorraine Hansberry, Countee Cullen, W.E.B Du Bois, James Baldwin and countless others. Their influence on and off the page helped shape who I am as an African-American. My work is solely a reflection of multiple aspects of my life and sometimes I will use images that coincide with my subject matter. My poems and short stories "tell it like it is". I'm not trying to throw shade. I'm just speaking my truth.

So, you want to know how I became awesome? (Spoilers: It involved less radiation and a whole lot more responsibility and sarcasm.) I was born in Fremont, sure, but I was built in Hayward, California-the self-declared Heart of the Bay. My family crossed a few pesky borders so the next generation (that's me!) could cross some finish lines. I learned all my life skills from Little League dreams, cheap Saturday morning cartoons, and the kind of karate confidence only a kid who mainlined 3 Ninjas and Bruce Lee could possess. Yes, I'm talking about me. Oh, and I met my wife in Spanish class at Mt. Eden High. We were just two teenagers trying to avoid failing un poquito, not realizing we were laying the concrete foundation for a whole lifetime. Seriously, that kind of love is the only thing that kept me from flying off the rails-and trust me, there were plenty of tempting crossroads. Did I take the perfect path? Nope. No perfect college roadmap here. Just a ton of sheer stupidity I managed to avoid, and a work ethic so intense my ancestors probably slow-clapped from the afterlife. I somehow ended up building a career in healthcare technology leadership. Now I guide teams, make hard calls, and generally try to take care of people the way my community took care of me. Look, I'm Javier. I'm a husband, a father of five, and a second-generation Mexican American determined to raise the bar. This isn't just some dusty old memoir. This is my story of love, loyalty, culture, confidence, and the inevitable regret and redemption that comes when you stop running from yourself. It's about choosing the right path (the hard one, naturally), becoming the man I needed growing up, and proving that where you start is never the limit. It's just... the opening scene. Now let's get started.

Meet Gabriella, a bright and driven nursing school drop out now trying to navigate her way through the jungle known as Hollywood and the music industry as a new assistent at a major record label in LA. What happens when the straight and narrow path she had mapped out for herself gets thrown off course by an old friend and X romantic interest from her high school days in the Bay suddenly comes back into her life? Gerald, now professionally known as G-Eazy, never would have imagined he and Gabriella would cross paths again. After all, it's been almost 15 years since they last saw one another and lots of things have changed. After an unplanned night of passion between the two old pals ruins what was left of Gabriella's relationship with her no good cheater boyfriend Caleb, will her and Gerald still be friends? Will they become more or go their separate ways again for good? Mature language and content (sex, drugs, and alcohol use) will be included throughout this story. I'm super excited to start posting the chapters that I've been working on for y'all to read, and I truly hope you enjoy them as much as I did while writing them. I'm also considering making a playlist on spotify for this story, so let me know if that's something you'd be interested in :-) To all my fellow Young Gerald fans... Yeeeee!!! From The Bay to the universe baby LET's GOOOOO!
