"Rime within the Embers" is set in the world of Falyndra. Falyndra consists of 7 core races, which are divided into their own clans loosely based on appearance and inhertiable skills. These races are the Dragonlings, Beastfolk, Elves, Featherkin, Sanguinar, Forest Titans, and Dwarves. Humans used to be one of the core races but died out in the War of the Mad King. Rime Winterborn is the main character and a Dragonling of the Clan of Absolute Winter. He is a survivor of a possibly lethal raid on his home village when he was ~10-12 years old. Rime roamed the world until he stumbled upon the Dwarven city of Berylia, where he was taken in by a old Dwarf by the name of Ferrous Bronzehammer , who offered him a roof, water and food. Ferrous unofficially adopted the young dragonling, and raised him through teenhood, eventually allowing him to join his adventuring merchant guild "The Order of Bronze" that specialized in Blacksmithing and Gemcutting jobs and quests, which coincidentally his father was a master blacksmith and training the young Rime before the raid. So Rime grew up in Berylia and has been in Ferrous' guild for the last 4 years, making friends along the way. Our story starts with Rime reliving his past trauma in a vivid nightmare, that highlights some details about the attackers he may not have noticed as a child, with memories stirred he awakes and shakes it off heading to the Guild Hall with a new determined vigour to make the best of the present instead of dwelling on the past; fate however had other plans.
