When Robbie is arrested for breaking into a restricted satellite facility while tracking unexplained thermal anomalies in the Pacific, he avoids serious consequences after being recognized by Tori's father. Robbie is dismissed with a warning, his theories still mocked and his obsession unresolved.
That obsession traces back generations. Robbie has spent his life chasing the legacy of his great-great-grandfather, Ephraim Lionel Shapiro, a disgraced explorer who vanished over a century ago while searching for a place most believed was fictional: the Mysterious Island of Jules Verne. Armed with Ephraim's coded journal, fragmented maps, and impossible seismic data, Robbie is determined to prove his ancestor wasn't mad-and that the island is real.
During a school trip to Hawaii, Robbie convinces Tori and her friends to help him check the coordinates hidden in the journal. Before they can rejoin their class, a violent, unnatural storm strikes. Robbie and his friends are separated, dragged by distorted currents, and cast ashore on an uncharted island that should not exist.
The island is a hostile, living ecosystem of jungles, ancient ruins, and creatures evolved in total isolation. As the group searches for safety, they discover evidence of others who came before and never escaped. Among the ruins lies the truth about Ephraim's fate: he didn't vanish. He chose to stay, knowing the island resurfaces only briefly before sinking beneath the sea.
As seismic instability worsens and the island begins to descend once more, Robbie faces the same choice his ancestor did: prove the island's existence to the world, or save the people beside him, escaping with only fragments of proof and a truth few will ever believe.
