This is a story about finding family, self-acceptance, healing from trauma, and yearning to be loved and cared for. This is an AU about a group of kids that happens to meet at a boarding school after being abandoned by family. (There's things that don't make sense for the real world. Keep in mind it's an AU) Soulmates exist in this world. This story is mainly supposed to be focused on found family as the main plot with some romance. (I'm doing my best feedback welcome) I have most of the event's I wanted to happen in the book written already, so I thought now would be a good time to start posting chapters. I'm more than halfway done and already planning what I'm going to write next.

They say you never really forget your first love. They also say distance makes the heart grow fonder. That couldn't be truer for Soriyah and Mekhi. Mekhi was a hardheaded, ambitious, tough kid who grew up too fast. He wanted his peers' money and respect, and by the time he reached 27, he had gotten all he could ever dream of. A hood celebrity, some feared and respected him while others envied and hated him. On the outside, he was the man who had everything, but on the inside, there was a void that never seemed to get filled. Soriyah was the complete opposite: brains, beauty, and drive. She was determined not to let the streets swallow her whole. Instead of chasing Mekhi's fast lifestyle, she was chasing something bigger. Something better--a doctorate and a future that would allow her to raise her children better than she had been raised. At 26, she found herself making the hardest decision of her life. Homecoming season is always a trip down memory lane. A weekend of fun and adventure, or at least that was what Micah was expecting, but sometimes those memories have a way of changing everything. One party turned into bullets flying and people scattering for cover. What was chaos was frozen as Soriyah and Mekhi find each other, sparking old feelings and rekindling a forgotten friendship. Love doesn't come easy for them, as their stories were written for completely different paths. Together they face twisted tragedy, tests of loyalty, plenty of temptation, and a lesson that sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants and first loves never die.

They tell you things, boost your head up, and then right when you feel that you can hold them close.....the trust is broken. I've learned to keep people at a distance for my own inner peace of not getting disappointed. Of course I don't want to live like that, but it's for the best.
