Born in 1332 as the daughter of a count's servant in London, England, with no mother, Lilac West must navigate the demands of servant life at court. When her father dies a few months before her sixteenth birthday and Lilac must decide her fate. Will she continue to be the servant of a sick count intent on blaming her for the black plague, accept a suitor's offer of marriage to escape her position, or will she chose a path that will lead her to discover who she truly is?

I wasn't expecting it, but I wasn't exactly surprised either. Maybe I'd seen it coming. At the very least, I should've seen it coming. There had been signs, of course. Then again, it's my fault for not realizing the different patterns of the Earth cycle, or how the rivers flowed backwards. Inspired by "The Road," the man and boy are placed in the period of Englands Black Plague. With no money, the man and boy must adapt in order to survive.

I wrote this like five years ago and I'm not gonna bother trying to rewrite it. Nobody saw it coming. It had hidden itself well, embedded into the bodies of rats underground. But then the fleas started biting. All of Europe is being swept away by the plague, and hope is lost in the fray. A series of short stories that take place during the Black Plague, inspired by a simulation done in school.
