She opened her eyes to see the wall of the cottage, and sighed in relief, her shoulders drooping as she thought it was just a nightmare. Something behind her knocked the pitcher off the washstand and it crashed to the floor. Foul breath washed over her neck, and she whipped around in fear, her eyes wide. And then she saw it. Pure evil emanated from the form, the form that was hidden by darkness. Her heart leaped to her throat as the thing lunged for her, enveloping her in a cloak of darkness as a searing pain traveled up her side. Thick acrid smoke filled her mouth and nose as a scream ripped from her throat before she blacked out, stretched across the floor. When she woke, her parents and brother were gone without a trace. No tracks, no blood, nothing except a lingering sense that nothing would ever be the same again. ~ ~ ~ On the Isle of the Rock, something that Raven had long left behind her starts to arise again, making her doubt everything that she'd once thought she knew

I wrote this like five years ago and I'm not gonna bother trying to rewrite it. Nobody saw it coming. It had hidden itself well, embedded into the bodies of rats underground. But then the fleas started biting. All of Europe is being swept away by the plague, and hope is lost in the fray. A series of short stories that take place during the Black Plague, inspired by a simulation done in school. Most of these end in character death and revolve around topics of hopelessness and the inevitable. If these themes bother you, it is suggested that you refrain from reading.

"Man's hour on this earth is coming to an end, the sand in the hourglass is running much faster now" -Melisandre This is a quote from a character from a book called Game Of Thrones. Rowen thinks of it every time he wakes up in the morning. Man's hour is really coming to an end. The Black Plague has come again. After it went though, a horrible thing sprung up, people who the Black Plague touched, are now coming back as a type of zombie. worse enough, These zombies are able to raise the past dead who have not been touched. This has caused the surviving humans to band together or go it alone while the remaining scientists attempt to at least weaken the zombies so they can't raise the other dead so humanity can kill them all. This is when Rowen, who has been living alone ever since his father died, finds her. Kayla, he found, has a bite on her shoulder that had to have come from one of the creatures, but she hasn't turned. This means that she is immune. Rowen then prepares to take her to the scientist's labs to help be apart in saving humanity.

I wasn't expecting it, but I wasn't exactly surprised either. Maybe I'd seen it coming. At the very least, I should've seen it coming. There had been signs, of course. Then again, it's my fault for not realizing the different patterns of the Earth cycle, or how the rivers flowed backwards. I should've known how the world was falling out of live in the galaxy, slowly.

You've heard the rhyme. You sang the song. You played the game. But do you know the story behind it? The truth behind the laughter and fun? Because it is something more sinister and dark. One that makes you rethink everything you thought you knew.
