This is a fictional look at the "Angry Black Woman" Trope from one black woman's point of view and how it plays out in her relationships. There is an un-due weight placed upon her from external forces which she has also subconsciously internalized. The pressure has reached it's peak. She moves into a space of acknowledgement, self awareness and personal accountability as she seeks to break the cycle of toxic behavior which has seemingly been her nemesis over the years. From a place of emotional exhaustion, she approaches the challenges she is having by stepping out of the secret world of the, "Strong Black Woman". She even seeks help from licensed professional therapists, which has been a, "no, no" in the collective attitude of the Black community.

Huey and Riley Freeman are back in a low-key, stylised reboot of the original show, on your wattpad! It's been a year or so since Robert Freeman died. The boys' only legal guardian has left them behind in a white dominated district. But Huey and Riley got those strings, and they pull them. So they attend the school, and damn -- that place needs some Riley and Huey Freeman. Whether it be... Riley's "menacing" influence, or Huey's "cynical" one. Please enjoy my story, a social commentary with a similar satrical twist, based around the original series. Only, it has more of a youthful, modern yet authentic flair to it. They learn from their mistakes, and damn right make sure to fix the ones around them.

I wrote this for my Black Atlantic art history class. If you don't know what the Black Atlantic is, it's a term used to reference the exchange of cultures across the middle passage while African people were being trafficked across. I was tasked to write a new artist statement for a work in the current exhibition "Project a Black Planet" at the Art Institute of Chicago and to connect it back to the Black Atlantic. I decided to post this so more people can know about the work, my personal opinions of it, and to give a free educational resource.
