DISCALIMER Be aware that this is an unedited first draft of this story and that English is not my first language. The quality improves as the story progresses, and I learn along the way; this is my first serious writing project. _________________________________________________________________________________ What comes of ruin if not vengeance? The one-winged Celestial Orion is purchased as a slave by an enigmatic General, but neither her name nor her purpose will she tell him. He expects only torment, yet instead he finds himself a pawn in a lethal scheme of political intrigue far beyond the one he'd planned himself. Forced to fight as her champion in the brutal heart of the Eternal Empire, Orion soon discovers his General is far more than the target he expected. A woman who soon owns far more than his body. As Celestial rebellion gathers in the shadows of the mad Emperor, Orion and his master soon become something far more consuming, threatening every plan and purpose they'd laid ahead. Forcing them to decide if their worlds will survive their heart's desires or burn with them. _________________________________________________________________________________ Excerpt: "Every heartstring snapped at once, and suddenly he'd descended into hell where his devil originated. Indeed, it was hell, painted in the most poisonous of paradises, ravaged by the single flame dancing before him, everything else vanishing out of sight as only she remained. Ripping out his heart to devour every part, and by the Gods, he'd let her do it. If this was his divine punishment, there remained no power to resist its temptation." ___________________________________________________________________

General Farrokhan is the most dangerous man in Persia. A Sassanid commander of the seventh century, he is famous for relentless conquest and the destruction of cities and churches across the eastern Byzantine empire. But before he can burn a particular church to the ground, he becomes entranced by the story told in one of its mosaics, about a seven hundred year-old trio of Magi whose descendants are feared and revered by his people. Instead of destroying the church as planned, he protects it while the rector recounts the ancient tale of a man from Judah named Melchior, who escapes a life he hates to marry the one he loves. Over the course of many events, both victorious and tragic, the Judean finds himself in Persia, under the tutelage and care of a wise Zoroastrian Magus. Decades later, as the leader of the community, he begrudgingly embarks on a journey with two of his fellow Magi to follow a vague prophecy and a mysterious star. As Farrokhan connects with the story, his life takes a bizarre turn for the worse. One by one the events in his life begin to mirror those of Melchior’s life so many centuries ago, until the commander concludes that he has fallen victim to a curse. But when he returns to the mosaic that began it all he finds the source, not of a curse, but of a grander purpose he is destined to fulfill.

In 14th century Byzantine, Bartolomea Acciaioli lives a life carved from silence, silk and sorrow. Born into nobility but bound by duty, she longs for freedom, love, and the warmth of a world beyond palace walls. When Georgios Phokas - her childhood love and forbidden flame - returns from war, their reunion sparks a fragile hope. But fate, politics, and plague conspire to tear them apart. As the empire crumbles and her family fractures, Bartolomea is forced into a marriage that feels more like a funeral. Her body becomes a battleground, her voice a ghost, and her soul a prayer whispered into the dark. Through letters, visions, and the quiet ache of a memory. Bartolomea clings to the love that once saved her - and the child that may never be born. A Byzantine Sacrifice is a tragic, spiritual, and emotionally devastating tale of forbidden love, martyrdom, and the quiet strength of a woman who was never meant to survive- but she did, until she couldn't.

BOOK 1 - Rusticus' Journey In 395 AD, a young librarian named Rusticus discovers a plot by Theophilus, the powerful Archbishop of Alexandria, to alter sacred Christian texts to support his own theological and political agenda. Faced with an impossible choice, Rusticus must decide whether to stand by and watch as history is rewritten, or risk everything to preserve the original documents. When Theophilus threatens to destroy the original manuscripts of the New Testament, Rusticus and his friend Marcus embark on a dangerous mission to steal and protect them. But their daring heist sets off a chain of events that will force Rusticus to flee for his life, leading him on an epic journey from Alexandria to Constantinople and beyond. Along the way, he forms an unlikely alliance with the fierce and independent Dalilah, who challenges everything he thought he knew about faith, truth, and love. Together, they must navigate political intrigue, religious persecution, and their growing feelings for each other while staying one step ahead of Theophilus's relentless pursuit. As they delve deeper into the ancient texts they're protecting, they uncover troubling discrepancies between the original writings and the doctrine being enforced by the Empire. Their search for truth will bring them face to face with John Chrysostom, one of history's most beloved and controversial church fathers, whose own struggles with orthodoxy mirror their own. A gripping tale of romance, faith, and courage, this historical fiction novel explores the price of truth in a world where power corrupts and questioning doctrine means risking everything. Based on real historical events and figures, it offers a fascinating glimpse into a pivotal moment in Christian history when the quest for orthodoxy threatened to override the very teachings it sought to preserve.

I started writing this a while ago, It's not that good, you may notice a tone change as my inspirations to keep writing changed. Anyway, this is basically a summary of Antonio's life, with a bunch of headcanons my friends and I made along the way. We begging in ancient Rome and end in... Well, you'll see. Expect some OC's as if I remember correctly, we had to fill in some historical gaps. Most of this writing was influenced by my younger cousin so do with that what you want. (Oh! and I made the cover, not my best work I know.)
