I've always loved when Noona would tell me stories to bed. Especially mysteries and crimes. I love theorizing with her, what might've happened, connecting clues with her, it's my absolute favorite. Her voice is always so soothing, it's like a lullaby moms sing to their little ones. "Seungho-yah, have you ever heard of doppelgangers?" she whispered to me as she caresses her hand gently on my forehead. I open my eyes and lace my eyes on her face. "Yeah, I have, noona. Why do you ask?" "What would you do if you see one?" "I'd approach them." I see her tilting her head, probably in confusion, by the brief answer I gave her. "Why? You do know that according to superstitions, meeting one can lead you to your death?" I turned my head and look up at her face. Her smile went from a curve to a straight line. The soft look of her eyes shifted to something else. Something.. I can't read. "..I'd like to know them. There's only one "you" in this life. Even if we share the same face, I believe that we're very different people with very different lives and stories. So.. I'd like to know about them more. Plus, it's not everyday you get to see someone with the same face as yours!" And I ended my "long" explanation with a proud smile. "..is there something wrong, Noona? You kept questioning me this since this morning.." I ask her again. She shakes her head and smiles. A fake smile of reassurance, I can tell. "Now, close your eyes and go to sleep, Seungho. You have to save energy for tomorrow." Nevertheless, I close my eyes. Tomorrow, we'll go and ride under that snowcapped carousel. And that was all that mattered. This is a poem I written based off of my favorite book of all time! This is Holden Caulfield feeling terrible for his little sister, Pheobe, because of how innocent she is compared to the "phonies" he has met throughout his life. I used a carousel for the cover because at the end, Pheobe rides the carousel; Holden thinks about how she is growing up soon. The title is called Catcher in the Rye because Holden wants to catch little children off the cliff. It's a motif in the book meaning that he is keeping them from growing up and changing. This book has changed my life. It has really shaped me into a better person. It has also inspired me to read more and to become an English teacher. You should definitely read it. Yes, this book has a lot of profanity and drug use, but it is worth reading.The writing and message is just so beautiful. I cried at the end of the book. It's just so amazing!!!!
