A slightly fantastical, magical realism in the nature of Michael Chabon or Fahrenheit 451 with the insights of the best young adult narrators.... A high school senior, Agnes describes an average brain dead video filled day at Devon Union High School. We are introduced to the last iconoclast English teacher, a dean of students bent on making classes as literature-free as possible, and a surly teen rebel who Agnes is fixated on, Sophie MacDonald. Buying a large cache of unwanted books, Anges and Sophie organize a book burning to make a bit of cash. By winter break the burnings become a dark spectacle. At the same time, her school becomes a series of video classes with optional attendance. As the schools continues to spiral downward, Agnes notices that residents disappear at the same time the books are burned. She comes to an act of civil disobedience that destroys the heart of her school and puts her on the run.

Moments before the main character Derva tries to take his own life, he writes to a distant relative, accusing her of driving himself and her grandson to their deaths by supporting the current regime in her home country. First enraged Esther, the distant relative moves on with her life, but being more and more confronted with the regime she eventually joins the rebellion, believing Derva had died. Derva survives his suicide attempt and moves to the regime led country, pushing for things to change. During the story many other characters who're living within the regime are met, like the vice president's daughter and his wife, a teenage girl who's being deported and her grandma who's imprisoned, all painting a picture which destroys the facade so many believe in.

Like all citizens of the Protected States of America, Paul has lived his entire life within the confines of one of the government-run safety towers. A gifted student and model citizen, he has always diligently followed all of the guidelines prescribed by the experts, but a chance encounter with a dangerous old man threatens to change everything. Will he continue to put his safety first, or will his newfound hunger for the truth lead him into the danger outside the walls of Tower 440?

We were standing in a concert hall designed like a futuristic room on the 'Discovery One' spaceship in the film '2001'. Every feature was brilliant white. White plastic seats. White walls. White ceiling. When the house lights were switched on, it was a dazzling sight. In 1968, my father had accompanied me to watch that sci-fi movie at our local cinema because my school project concerned the American space race. Simultaneously, maybe an unknown architect somewhere had exited a theatre, sufficiently inspired by Stanley Kubrick's cinematic vision to design their next project, this room, all-white.

From wingless birds to creative masters - voices can be silenced but there's nothing that can stop wild imagination when it strikes. But her past seems to be catching up with her, and because she's classified as a 'defective' because of her Asperger Syndrome, if the government catches up with her, she's likely to be sent to a mercy center for termination. But what hope does she have when she isn't even legally considered a person?

This is an original story, which will touch on themes like war, truth, liberty and sacrifice. I will write Chapter 1 if this does well. Enjoy!

When everybody has a right to learn about a subject or concept or anything without any filter, does it also allow them to be influenced and modify their beliefs ? Is censorship necessary ? Well, if censorship is necessary it clearly means that the audience tend to assort to wrong means with the information they encounter. Does this mean we should censor something good or bad that happened in the past ? Let us read a bit about Censorship and Copyrights and my take on this aspect.
