Crimson Chains Chapter 1 - Dangerous Beginning Eli's POV The air smelled like blood. And smoke. My wrists ached from the rope cutting into my skin as I sat on the cold metal chair. Across from me, a man in a black suit lounged like a king in his throne - calm, controlled, deadly. "You saw something you shouldn't have," he said, voice low and smooth. "Then kill me," I spat. If he wanted fear, he wouldn't get it from me. He stood, slowly, like a predator who knew his prey couldn't run. Each step echoed like a gun being cocked. He stopped right in front of me, tilting my chin up with two fingers. "Kill you?" he whispered, his breath hot against my skin. "No. I don't waste good things." His hand slid down, over my throat, down my chest - slow enough to make me hold my breath. My pulse pounded in my ears, a mix of fear... and something else I hated myself for feeling. "You belong to me now," he murmured, voice like velvet and steel. "Body and soul." I should've been angry. I should've fought. But instead, I froze - and for one dangerous second, I wondered what it would feel like if he really claimed me. This was the night my life stopped being mine. And maybe, deep down, I didn't want it back.
