The pristine, hushed halls of the Chanel flagship store on Rue Cambon, Paris-where the carpets are plush, the bags cost more than a year's rent, and the gossip is sharper than a stiletto.
Clémence is the best sales associate at Chanel, but her personal life is a "desert of chic." While her colleagues, Genevieve and Margot, spend their lunch breaks bragging about weekend getaways to Saint-Tropez with their wealthy boyfriends, Clémence spends hers hiding in the breakroom with a ham sandwich and a crossword puzzle.
One afternoon, under the relentless interrogation of her coworkers, Clémence snaps. Remembering a name her sister Léa screamed about earlier that morning, she blurted out: "I'm dating Rico."
She thought Rico was just some trendy indie DJ. She didn't realize he was Rico Rocha, the Brazilian "King of Pop" with fifty million followers and a smile that makes people forget how to breathe. To her coworkers, Clémence has just landed the biggest catch in the world. To Clémence, she's just committed social suicide.
But then, the impossible happens. To escape the paparazzi, the real Rico ducks into the Chanel store wearing a hoodie and sunglasses. He overhears Clémence frantically explaining to a suspicious Genevieve why her "boyfriend" Rico hasn't posted a photo of them on Instagram yet.
Amused by this fiery, red-headed French girl who has used him as a human shield against her workplace bullies, Rico decides to play along. He walks up, kisses her cheek in front of the entire staff, and whispers in her ear: "You owe me dinner for this, 'namorada'."
