Erin Devereaux was her parents miracle baby. She was born many years after they had her sister, Josie. Erin's two biggest dream was to become an international soccer player and live forever with her parents. But her dream died when she lost her parents in a motor accident at age 12. She was forced to go and live with her sister whom she never really grew up with because of their age differences, and her husband Teddy. In dealing with her tragedy, she rebelled against all authority and went through a rough teenage phase which nobody could help her with except for her brother in law who helped her to direct her anger into positive actions. In spending time with her brother in law she discovered a deep passion for community service, classical music and books far beyond her grade, all which later helped her in her chosen career as a medical doctor. When Teddy Bowman first met Josie Devereaux, it was the first great thing in his life. The second was when Josie agreed to marry him. He thought he had it all - the boy from a rough neighborhood who made a thing for himself and became a man that could be loved by a beautiful woman like Josie. But his happiness was short lived when Josie died of cancer a couple years short of forty. He couldn't imagine more to life without Josie. He'd lost the most important thing to him. Erin who'd been abroad for many years working with the Doctors without Borders organization came home to be with her brother in law after hearing about the death of her sister. Erin and Teddy had been robbed too much by death and while Teddy was about to give up and accept defeat, Erin was on a mission to help her brother in law as he'd helped her many years ago when she'd been the kid in a rough place. Would Erin be able to prove there's room for more in a heart without first losing hers?

The sun, burning low in the morning sky, backlights the guy's head of blonde, framing his hair with a halo of glowing gold. God have mercy, groans Merlin's sleep deprived brain, a prince come to sweep me into his arms and carry me out of this hole of study I've dug myself into. "Mmm," murmurs the guy, staring lovingly at his yellow-wrapped food. "Beesechurger." • Merlin is on scholarship and Arthur is a post-graduation mess (AU -- MODERN SETTING) (For some reason, this did super well on AO3, so I've also decided to post it here!)

A condensation of the book by Catherine Marshall. Illustrated by Howard Sanden. For many years, Catherine Marshall, the distinguished author of A Man Called Peter and other inspirational books, listened to her mother's stories of her experiences as a young mission teacher in eastern Tennessee. Mrs. Marshall went with her parents - her father had been a Presbyterian minister in the same settlement- to the wild, beautiful mountains and saw the humor, courage and saltiness of the mountain people for herself, Gradually, the need to tell her mother's story in the form of a novel took hold. Christy -a moving, authentic drama of mountain life- is the inspiring result. Around the character of Christy, a spirited young girl in search of her own identity and a deeper religious faith, Catherine Marshall has brought to life the whole Appalachian world with its feuds, its fun, its humanity, and its proud independence. In the end, young Christy finds a new understanding of God through suffering- and she finds, too, her lifetime love.

Portraying himself as a failure, the protagonist Osamu Dazai's No Longer Human narrates a seemingly normal life even while he feels himself incapable of understanding human beings. Oba Yozo's attempts to reconcile himself to the world around him begin in early childhood, continue through high school, where he becomes a "clown" to mask his alienation, and eventually lead to a failed suicide attempted as an adult. Without sentimentality, he records the casual cruelties of life and its fleeting moments of human connection and tenderness. Semi-autobiographical, No Longer Human is the final completed work of one of Japan's most important writers, Osamu Dazai (1909-1948). The novel has come to "echo the sentiments of youth" (Hiroshi Ando, The Mainichi Daily News) from post-war Japan to the postmodern society of technology. Still one of the ten bestselling books in Japan, No Longer Human is a powerful exploration of an individual's alienation from society.
