'The City Survives, and The City Thrives', as everyone knows. This may be true for those living 'Over the Hill', but for those like Chimma, living 'Under the Hill', survival is the goal. Passing this Zam is the only way to accomplish her dreams of crossing the Boundary from the Under to the Over, thus enabling her to improve her parents' lives, as well. But after calling a very soggy man out of the rain, the trajectory of her life changes completely.

Earth has fallen. When the planet crosses its final climate tipping point, temperatures rise, crops fail, and billions are forced onto the move. Diplomacy gives way to ultimatums, then to war. From unassuming laboratories to streets drowning in heat and hunger, a fractured world stumbles toward its final reckoning. As famine and conflict spread, international order dissolves into violence and blame, and armies march north through ruins chasing a future that no longer exists. Yet amid the despair, a radical plan takes shape to move a fragment of humanity to the red sands of Mars. As Earth burns and the heavens fill with refugees, one truth becomes unavoidable: the future belongs only to those willing to sacrifice everything. In the chaos of the apocalypse, a new kind of security service is needed to enforce order where nations have failed. From the ashes of Old Earth, the Sunguard rises. Scorched Earth is a sweeping hard-science epic about collapse, survival, and the cost of choosing a future when the present is already lost.

Diné spiritualism asserts that there are two sets of beings once spirits finally emerge into this world - The Yellow World - after three other lives. There are Holy People, and the Earth People. It is the Earth People's divine responsibility to maintain health, harmony, peace, and prosperity on Mother Earth. Centuries ago, the Earth People were guided by the Holy People in an attempt to teach them how to properly treat their environment and sustain the planet through their lifestyles. All was considered. Mother Earth and Father Sky. Humans, animals, insects, plants - none were bigger or smaller than the other. If the Earth People's wholesome will faltered, the Holy People were tasked with the responsibility of righting the Earth People's wrongs. Putting nature back on its path. As part of the Holy People's last ditch effort at combating centuries of human transgressions, a select group from the newest - and possibly last - generation is tasked with finally getting those in power to listen. 8 Holy Children are born on Earth, led particularly by Nizhoni Flores who has been patroned by the Navajo God of communication, Bikeh Hozho.

In 2043, the rainfall started...and it has not stopped. London lays on the brink of collapse as the Overcasts tighten their grip on the sinking city. After being left to fend for themselves, Finn, Mim, Jeero, and Lena are thrust onto an overcrowded Spillship. Here, they are confronted with the realities of their new drowning world, where thousands have turned to religious extremism. As their lives intertwine, the teens navigate love, friendship, and loyalty, forging fragile bonds and discovering what they are truly capable of. When whispers of a movement dedicated to stopping the rain echo through the ship, they embark on a daring quest for freedom. Under the constant watch of the electric eagles, they face treacherous waters and internal enemies, risking everything to join the resistance.

//If you're reading this anywhere that is not w a t t p a d, you're reading a work stolen from me and posted elsewhere.// There is one rule the entire world follows after the Great Nature Apocalypse and that is that every person needs to wear a Paper Bag over their heads. This is to ensure the polluted air that is found to turn humans into frogs once the air hits their faces is prevented, and the material used to make paper bags is the only thing stopping that effect. But one man, Haru, always thought that that rule is stupid and had no basis, only a tale of caution told from one generation to the next. Deciding to prove that was the case, he walks out into the outside world out of the comfort of the underground bunker and took off his Paper Bag. What he finds out through this elicits a strange journey with his three other close friends (and a nuisance) in finding the origin of this 'fact', specifically, who started this entire rule. Three hundred years after the fall, the known world is beginning to regain a semblance of order, with the sword the ultimate power once more. But not everything of old was lost, and there are some that will exert deadly effort to obtain what was left behind. Orphaned, plague-marked and mistrusted by the community he lives in, a boy must come to terms with the fact that he is different from everyone else, but is soon the focus of unwelcome and deadly attention. Separated from her father, a young girl has to learn to survive in a foreign land haunted by tribes of ghosts and roving bands of piratical thralls to a sadistic King. A watcher keeps lonely vigil from within a fortress that has been under siege for hundreds of years, while a soldier dies for the twenty-third time, and dies again while wondering if he is going mad. First started in 2015, this story is at 50k+ words, but was removed when a plotting hiccup was encountered. I now intend to split it into three parts, and this is the complete Part 1. Part 2 will begin once I've finished editing another work... Please vote and comment, as your input will help shape the story. Enjoy!
