Lily Hart is having the day from hell when she gets pulled over for speeding. Officer Vince Jordan gets a lot more than he bargained on when he tries to pull Lily in line. Little do they know that they both frequent the same little coffee shop and that chance will have them run into each other again... Completed short story for the #CoffeeShopsBrewStories contest.

"You know, I have something very important to tell you. My grandfather shared this with me as his dying words. It has guided me through life to this day," Caleb announced. By that point, my eyes were saucers. The thought that he was speaking nonsense didn't cross my mind. "Well, alright, Tick, tell me!" "You're ruining the dramatic effect. It's the secret to life, Perkins! Treat it with respect." Caleb made me do a drum roll before he leaned in and began to whisper. "My grandfather told me..." Caleb murmured. "A cup of coffee a day keeps the doctor away." My nose wrinkled with disappointment. "That's it?" "That's it." "You got me all excited for nothing." "It's the truth!" "I think you just ruined this date." Caleb smirked. "I thought it wasn't a date." I felt a blush creep up my cheeks. "Oh, shut up." Caleb's eyes gleamed as he picked up his thermos of coffee and took a long sip. "Alright, Perkins. Alright."

All she wanted was a dry floor and minimal human interaction. What she got? Shaun Mehta Golden boy. Boss's pet. Human version of an overpriced cologne ad, Now officially her roommate. Now, they share a roof, a fridge, and enough unresolved tension to power a soap opera. Enemies at work. Roommates at home. And maybe... something more? Enemies to (very confused) almost-lovers. Disaster guaranteed. Falling in love? Unlikely. ...Right?
