mike wheeler is graduating high school. his friends are beside him, his life is ahead of him, but nothing feels right. he can't seem to ignore his best friend's eyes, he can't stop himself from looking like his father, and everything is empty. dull. it's grief, maybe, or something he can't name.
will byers is facing the end of the world, and his best friend isn't beside him anymore. he hasn't lived without mike since he was five years old, and he really doesn't know how to go about it. grief pins him down, hope lifts him up, and he finds each in the ever-white eyes of mike wheeler.
each boy decides to do something about it.
(or, a conformitygate fic centered on byler.)
the title is (sorta) from pink in the night by mitski. this is updated irregularly, but probably mostly on weekends. the chapter count is not set in stone, but should be about right. crossposted to ao3, which i prioritize.
