His responsibilities have included matters of extreme depth. He has come into an unprecedented understanding of the universe. He has experienced madness and revelation. He has threatened life and had his own life threatened. He has seen the passions and limitations of gods. Now, he writes to reach out, to preserve himself but also to inform a successor. He does not feel a closeness of death, and secrets within him may preserve him beyond his natural timeline, but it is the wish of one of his masters that an Ephemeral come to take his place, should time remove him.
