still the day's ordinary mind-chatter to the calm of silence and take in these thoughts, running one way then another; catch them--if you can--for a third time on inhale: three breaths deep and hold; and when you, in slow deliberateness, exhale; let the impressions linger at length between the folds and crevices. This is for the forsaken, for the wanderers who drift unseen in the shadows of their own solitude. For those whose hearts beat in discord with the world, whose agony is mistaken for madness, yet within their chaos resides a dark and tragic beauty-a soul both cursed and sublime. A chronicle of daily musings and melancholic reveries. The ceaseless lamentations of a young girl, ensnared in the wretched embrace of a life devoid of mercy, where sorrow and solitude are her sole companion. Shackled by fate, her anguish knows no respite, and yet, in the abyss of her desolation, she is granted but a single solace-parchment and quill, the sole vessels through which her tormented soul may weep.

This story is based off of the entire studio album of Pink Floyd's "The Dark Side Of The Moon," hence this story's title. This tale does not keep a constant plot, but simply highlights the contemplations sure to reach a human during their life. Each paragraph is an excerpt reflected by a song in the album, in order. Each of the nine selections in total are given presence in this piece. Coincidentally, this story also has the amount of words that sum up to the year of the album's publishing: 1973. I wrote each paragraph while listening to the song that it corresponds to over and over again. Enjoy!

"Your sign here!" reads a frowning man through frowning eyes, not sullen so much as absentminded. ~~~ Another HSC piece but designed for exam conditions? fkn idk, a man reads a sign in a reality far from his own and contemplates his sense of disconnection and lack of purpose.
