Will Branson arrives on campus at his new College, determined to reinvent himself. After years of drifting friendships and quiet loneliness, he believes college will finally be the place where he belongs. The RA office, always bright, always buzzing with people, quickly becomes his home away from home. There he meets Elle, John, Cole, and a rotating cast of students who seem friendly, welcoming, and everything he's been hoping for.
But soon, Will's eagerness to connect clashes with the unspoken boundaries that surround him. His awkward compliments, misplaced crushes, and oversharing start to unsettle those people he wants to be close to. An offhand racist remark rattles the group, and the fragile goodwill he's built starts to crack.
As Will writes nightly letters to himself, convinced he's finally making real friends, those around him struggle with how to respond, stuck between empathy for a lonely freshman and alarm at his escalating behavior.
RA Office, Room for Hope is a character-driven story of longing, miscommunication, and the convoluted path toward genuine belonging. It poses a very difficult question: what happens when the place you believe will save you becomes the place where you must finally confront yourself?
A few events are being exaggerated (events in the first few chapters), however when the touching and crash outs happen, those are what happened, no exaggeration, real stuff.
Last name changed for obvious reasons, may change first names lowkey.
I jokingly told my friends I was going to write a fanfic about this guy we met this year and all the crazy stuff that has happened to us. I may update each chapter after published.
