"Will you ever love me the way you loved him?" The question makes my stomach drop to my feet. I don't even realize that my fork has escaped my fingers until it clatters onto my plate. "What?" This fine young man sitting across from me is looking at me with the most pitiful eyes I've ever seen. He's begging with the pair and he's asking. But from the way he's looking at me, he knows the answer. I know the answer. I attempt a swallow, but my own saliva strangles me and steals away every coherent word. It's been years. Astilbe's birthday is today, and she's turning sixteen. Although she should be proud, she doesn't feel too happy about turning a new age. So, instead, she thinks of the better days. She thinks of...spring. (note: this is my first story featuring two background characters in my oc universe, I hope you'll enjoy it. :D)

Carter doesn't know what a pleasant dream is like. The only thing he sees when he falls asleep are nightmares. And the nightmares he sees aren't like the normal ones, which you see once in a month and that's it, including falling endlessly or running to no end. They're like series. Every nightmare is another episode of the series Carter calls "They". He can't ask for help, because they will think that he's crazy. He isn't crazy. He knows that. But he doesn't know what's wrong with him. And unfortunately this is not the worst thing about his nightmares. Carter's nightmares can come to our world and destroy it while he is asleep. That he doesn't know, but needs to find out. "They" can come from the Nightmares' World, where the worst nightmares live, and fill the world with darkness and fear.

I write while on the bus. I often feel like I am waiting for something more while in the moment. With my former relationship I felt that we had all of what was happening in the moment but I was waiting for the future with them. This is about that feeling of wanting the be living in the day dreams of the future.

Although, while having the time of her life in the other universe, cold, hard reality hits her like a bus in her real everyday life. Will she maintain a balance of both worlds? Or will she have to give one of them up for the better?
