"I don't believe in love, Rishaan," Shivika whispered, tears glimmering in her eyes. "I'm scared. If I fall, I'll be cheated. I love myself too much to lose who I am. I know there's a connection... but my fear is louder."
Rishaan listened, steady, absorbing every tremor in her voice.
"I know, Shivika," he said softly. "Your fear doesn't make you weak. It makes you brave. You're not scared of love, you're scared of being broken."
"Do you see me as someone worthy enough to quiet that fear?" he asked gently. "I won't promise perfection, but my devotion, loyalty, and heart... they'll always belong to you. I'll show it with actions."
Her fingers twisted nervously. "What if my fear comes back?"
"Then I'll stay. Always," he said firmly. "Not just on easy days, but when your fear returns. I'll stand steady-until your heart feels safe."
Rishaan stepped closer. "My devotion isn't about words. It's about choosing you every day. Listening, holding you, protecting your heart."
Slowly, reverently, he sank to one knee. Her breath caught. He took her hands, forehead pressing gently against her palms.
"You see ShivParvati as your ideal love," he whispered. "I know I'm not divine-he is the supreme god. I'm not even a speck at his feet. But devotion can be human so let me be devoted to you the way Shiva is to Parvati. If he destroys evil to protect his world, I'll destroy anyone who dares to hurt you bcs You are my world, Shivika."
He lifted his head, eyes burning with sincerity. "Let me be your protector, your safe place, your constant. My devotion is yours."
Tears slid down her cheeks-no longer of fear, but relief and hope.
She stepped closer, gripping his hands. "If you're truly devoted... I'll let you in."
Rishaan bowed again, forehead against hers. "I'll spend my life making sure this devotion never breaks. You are my world. My devotion. My everything."
In that sacred moment, it felt as if the universe itself paused, blessing two hearts finally finding each other.
