On a planet in a far away galaxy of the name Diamond Road, colonies of the island are forced to split, after a war breaks out. When two colonies remain, nukes are sent, and time of life is limited. The colony builds a city to fly above the clouds, and hundreds of years later, energy is scarce, and a small group of teenagers go on amazing adventures to survive, emotionally, and physically.

When confronted with an impossible choice, how do you justify your decision? Lise is a dweller, a person who can influence her dreams in a world where dreams are a reflection of humanity's perception. She pursues a pack of nightmare beasts, called fiends, which live in the collective dream and feed off the minds of the vulnerable. Her little sister is hounded by these creatures into running away from home and spreads them wherever she goes like a plague. Lise must find a way to resolve a conflict of motivation. Save the innocent and risk losing her sister or leave the people to their fate in order to reach her in time. Whatever her answer, there is darkness ahead. Her eyes may never again be colored by the dawn. - This story takes place in a world where the day-night cycle spans the rough equivalent of a year. Years are divided into 4 quadrants: the first and fourth are the night quarters, the second and third are when the sun is visible in the sky. This is not explained explicitly in the text. Dreampunk is a niche genre of speculative fiction that asks the question "Is this real?" and then follows up with "What does that even mean anyway?" Alice in Wonderland would be the prototypical example, but any anti-authoritarian investigation into the nature of dreams, reality, the self, and the universe might qualify. Examples abound in books, movies, and TV. Keep reading to see what I mean.
