Well... that was almost entirely true. Almost... And that changed after she got rejected by her maidservant in a not so "respectful" manner after she confessed her feelings for her. Of course, she got mad and vowed to get payback, while still harbouring feelings for the same maidservant. But underneath all that hard shell of haughtiness, she was like everyone else, filled with secrets, pain, and flaws. In the midst of all the chaos and fast-paced life that was Mairborough, her hometown, Czarina learns that love was not like any other emotion, and that it took time to move forward, unlike the very racing games that she participates in that takes no time to complete.

Numbers may slip through me like sand, their shapes dancing, their order rearranging. I may not recall every verse or every chapter, but I remember the heart of the Word- the love, the promise, the grace. I'm still learning, still memorizing, not for perfection, but for connection. And I believe God smiles at that- because He sees the heart that remembers Him.

CONTENT WARNING: description of injury/blood. This is a memoir/personal narrative essay that I wrote for my Junior English class back in 2015. I ended up winning a Silver Key for it in the Maine Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and had it published in a book: Maine Teen Writing 2016, a collection of works written by middle and high school students. J first learned about the term 'Non-binary' in seventh grade. He didn't identify with it until ninth grade. Not everyone accepted him, however. Little did J know, it was a big deal to be non-binary in Maine.

Clay was born too early which makes him struggle a lot. His daily battle with multiple disabilities doesn't make his life easy and after also being bullied, even by his own brother, he shuts down around almost everyone and develops selective mutism. Instead of talking, he starts writing to the person he wants to become friends with. George who struggles with ADHD and a mood disorder suddenly receives notes in his locker each day from an unknown person. The notes cheer him up each time and at the same time he starts becoming closer to the quiet and shy Clay. When George also becomes friends with Clay's brother, he has to choose between either him, who hates Clay, or choose for the sweet Clay. But does he fall for the manipulative behaviour of Clay's brother or does he stay loyal to Clay? Warnings: -Sexual assault (a kiss/in the end only) -Suicidal thoughts (not many) -(Emotional) abuse -Bullying -Ableism (NOT A SHIP BOOK, just a platonic friendship :D)
