Unconsciously we are playing destructive games such as sexual games, competitive games, and power games. It's a known fact that people use others to get what they want, all while we contemplate the fact that we're only getting older as time passes us by. When we come to recognize and understand the games we play, we can then start to take control of our responses and create more fulfilling and secure relationships, or maybe not who really knows. Follow along with the games as we enter the lives of those living in reality or in a fantasy land...

I wrote this for my Black Atlantic art history class. If you don't know what the Black Atlantic is, it's a term used to reference the exchange of cultures across the middle passage while African people were being trafficked across. I was tasked to write a new artist statement for a work in the current exhibition "Project a Black Planet" at the Art Institute of Chicago and to connect it back to the Black Atlantic. I decided to post this so more people can know about the work, my personal opinions of it, and to give a free educational resource. The last page will be a link to the museum it is in and links to the other sites where other people have discussed the work. CONTENT WARNING for mentions of human trafficking and racial violence. My Liberation Incantation (Song of an OverEducated Female)

For me it's the latter, my brains full of terrible stories and funny questions but like everyone bad thoughts can cloud it all. So read if you wish, to see what I think and feel.
