Elysium is the sequel to the Time of the Titans, and begins where Book I ended: Mikael and his three companions leaving the island by a titan-made flying vessel, steered by Prince Sen, an entity of artificial intelligence in which its programmer, Mir, lives forever. They head for the great unknown - a world called Elysium where people awoken from eversleep by the titans have lived for a few generations. This world turns out to be a lot darker place than the initial glimpses of its serene forests and grasslands suggest, but our heroes are determined to pursue their separate yet temporarily converging quests. The protagonist, Mikael, is driven by the desire to find and rescue his beloved Mary Darling and the nine schoolgirls who disappeared with her.
