The question "Is it a privilege to have both parents?" has guided my reflections for as long as I can remember. It is not a question of morality or judgment it is a question about care; access, and childhood experience.
This book is my attempt to understand the ways presence and absence shape us, to honor parenthood in all its forms, and to explore how children adapt, survive, and eventually reparent themselves. It is for those who grew up with one parent, two parents, many parents, or imperfect support systems and for those who love them.
My hope is that these pages create space for reflection rather than defense, for conversation rather than judgment. If you find yourself seen in this book as a child, a parent, a guardian, or all at once may that recognition lead to gentler understanding, for yourself and for others.
