Gerard is used to being treated like he might break, handled carefully, spoken to softly, never really seen. Frank doesn't do careful. He's blunt, impatient, and the only person who treats Gerard like he's just... normal. What starts as irritation turns into something quieter, something harder to name. But learning to be seen properly, and to trust someone enough to let them stay, isn't easy. Some things don't need fixing. Just steady hands.

Frank lives in a broken home, his father an angry controlling alcoholic, his mother an assertive quiet woman, too afraid to speak up. His life had never been anywhere near perfect, and Frank was never one to have friends or stand out much at all. However, when he runs into a fellow student with fiery red hair and is brought into a diverse group of friends, Frank finds himself questioning aspects about himself, fighting off angry jocks and revealing things from his past he'd always blocked out. Can the new redhead help Frank break down the walls he had built around himself and save Frank from everyone, including himself? Frank Iero has been sexually assaulted throughout his childhood, onto his teenage years. Since then, he's been fearing the thought of people, but has almost overcome that fear. He now has a girlfriend, Jamia, who tries to help him whenever he's not feeling right, but it just annoys Frank because it's every damn day. Frank had stopped talking to Jamia since she transferred schools, and assumed they stopped dating. Not to mention, but Frank was an organ donor and has already given away a kidney so he could feel like a savior for someone out there. After a while, Frank became strongly depressed and planned his final day. If it wasn't for a 'friend' to come and visit, Frank would've succeeded, and would've depressed three others.

In the cold, unfeeling walls of death row, Frank Iero has learned to bury everything he once was, until Gerard Way, a quiet artist with a haunting past, becomes his cellmate. Thrown together by fate, their unlikely bond begins to unravel the isolation they've both built around themselves. As Gerard's sketches and soft hums break through the silence, Frank feels a pull he can't explain, but one that makes him question everything. In a place where hope is a distant memory and bitterness runs deep, can two broken souls find a way to heal each other? Or will the walls they've built remain impenetrable?

Gee and Frank were always best friends and knew everything about each other, well almost everything. There was something Frank couldn't tell Gerard, he couldn't tell anyone. Frank had a thing for making other people feel pain, he would never hurt an animal, for Christ sake he was vegetarian. But Frank always had the urge when he looked at Gerard to cause him pain, to see him beg and scream. Frank was stealthy, he always made sure to never leave evidence or to get caught.

Frank has been waiting his whole life to leave his Catholic faith in the past. Though after finally graduating high school, he meets a boy like a melody that he couldn't get out of his head- and something tells him he should stick around.

When they find cancer at a doctor appointment, Gerard has no idea on how to tell Frank, and the doctors say chemo should help him, so why even tell Frank?
