I remember reading a tumblr post about the fact that to dogs, we must seem immortal because we live so long. It had a few short descriptions about how this would look, and I got inspired to write this. My dog is still young, but I dread the day he will have to leave me. I suppose this is a way for me to tackle that fear. So, my beloved Chess, though you will never read this, I want to say this story is dedicated to you.
