It takes place in the present time (2021) *This is only my take on the subject and some of the events are true and some are fictional.

The story highlights the ignorance, sexualization, branding and marketing, sexism, queer-bating the media craves as well as the media's objectification, legal battles and conservatorships that aspiring artists had to go through back then, to be able to come out of nothing in hopes of living their dreams.
