The streets were in complete and utter chaos. People were screaming and running about, and furniture was tumbling from the windows like a violent hailstorm. He could hear the people sing, but his heartbeat was not echoing the drums. He had an important decision to make. He knew that his choice would be the difference between life and death. Or maybe he would die either way. This is the tale of Babet, a side character in Les Misérables. You will meet his younger brother, who opposes him during the revolution. This story involves tragedy, death, and evil. It follows a man's evolution from an innocent child to a foul thief. Enjoy! Credit to @findingclaquesous on Tumblr for the cover art.

The Mistress of Shadows France, on the eve of revolution. She rose from the gutters of Paris, barefoot and starving, taught early that beauty could be both a curse and a weapon. When Versailles opened its golden gates to her, the court saw only another mistress - a fleeting indulgence for a bored king. They were wrong. Behind silk gowns and whispered endearments, she served another master: the secret revolutionary network determined to end the monarchy. As the king's confidante and lover, she gathered secrets no spy could reach. Maps, names, escape routes - even the hidden refuge of Queen Marie Antoinette herself. History remembers the fall of the crown. It forgets the woman who loosened it. She was never meant to be remembered. She was meant to end an era.

Also this isn't 18+, so all readers are welcome. I hope you guys like it!!!!!! (BTW, I am currently on a kinda long hiatus, but I promise that I will continue this within the next few months)

In the near-future, the earth has been rocked by repeated strikes from debris left by the tail of a passing comet. Civilization is collapsing. People are desperate. A leader, Adin, has emerged to care for countless millions of refugees through his NGO, The Kingdom. He is the hope for mankind. When an assassin shoots Adin in the head while he addresses the United Nations in New York, Adin's mentor, the contemplative Abbott Ben Keating, comes to his surgical bed at Mt. Sinai Hospital to witness not just Adin's miraculous recovery, but the genesis of a new being: the fusion of human mind with a powerful artificial intelligence (AI). What Rough Beast follows the rise to power of this cyborg savior. The story unfolds through the experiences of Ben, as he tries to deter his pupil from his increasingly Messianic and dictatorial path; and of a family in Boulder, Colorado, refugees themselves from the growing lawlessness, who clash with Adin's growing ambitions. This story isn't science fiction. It's prophecy.

'[V]iolence only brings more violence. It does not change someone's heart. It only stops it from beating.' During times of war, there can be nothing but hate in the hearts of those fighting. But every now and then, you will find someone, an enemy perhaps, who will show you that war isn't all about fighting. Maybe it's about change. And change means giving the enemy a chance. (even if she can't tell that wearing silk during a revolution against the rich is a stupid idea). Inspired by Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities."

The Scarlet Testament: An Operatic Novel fuses France's upheaval with alchemy and vampire bloodlines into a visceral, symphonic tale. Poetic spells and fate's repeating motifs collide as characters sing of love, betrayal, and power inside gilded court cages and the ruined streets of Paris. If you crave dark romance, mythic symbolism, and operatic stakes, step into this night-born chorus.

"My friend Marie has convinced me to start writing in a diary. She says that everyone has a story to tell, and that I should start writing mine down." In 2017, my history class did a French Revolution diary project. It was pretty much exactly what it sounds like: write from the perspective of someone living through the French Revolution, mentioning specific dates and events along the way. As with all my creative writing projects, I took it very seriously and grew too attached to my characters, and Elisabeth Durand's diary is the result. I may have also taken the opportunity to project my fantasies of living in the 1700s while also having a very forward-thinking husband and living above a library. Enjoy!

Warning! This story was written a long time ago, has not been completed or spell checked, and is definitely not my best work. Please read at your own risk! I hope to rewrite it soon! ••• Andraste 'Andra' Dubois, the daughter of a prostitute and a sailer, was abandoned at a very young age. She was conceived due to her mother's job so she never met her father and her mother died at childbirth. Unsure what else to do with the child, Andra's cruel uncle left her on the doorstep of the Paris Opera House where she was taken in and taught to sing. Years later Andra has made a name for herself as an opera singer, partly because she writes her own music. But this is not enough for Andra. She is tired of going to bed hungry. She is tired of being a slave to the opera house. She is tired of an ignorant king sitting on the throne of France. Enjolras never thought he would be one to fall in love. He loved his country and he was too busy with the revolution to settle down with some housewife that obeys every command. But when he meets Andra, he is proven wrong. He falls for the independent girl who, by fate, falls for him as well. ••• 1 in #LesMisérables 1 in #Marius 1 in #FrenchRevolution 3 in #FrenchRevolution 11 in #enjolras 15 in #LesMisérables 16 in #LesMisérables
