Henry Wise is a known detective in Davao City, Philippines. His surname points as a fact. In every crime he had solved, he implied intense observations and clever entanglements. Though he may seem to have no conflicts at all, an incognito killer is roaming free in their village and this annoys him. This killer is a complex one, since he had helped the police department solve very intriguing cases. But this unknown menace is one step ahead of them. The killer's advantage led to the death of many murderers as well as the dangerous ones. Henry feels there is a perfectly sensible reason for the killer's actions and he is determined to stop him as soon as possible, before many deaths may occur.

Being in love is giving everything you are. Like falling off a cliff, not knowing what you will expect further. You deny it at first, not wanting to admit that you are willing to convince your heart to kill itself. Then you see his smile, his eyes crinkle and you fall in love with him again, going into the depths of despair, blind in a house with the knowledge that you're either going to be killed or have eternal happiness. I was dumb. But my heart was satisfied and I had the best feeling in the world. And then it happened. I should have known but I was blind, cloaked in the feeling of joy and living happily in a beautiful lie. The heartbreak, your chest heaving from the pain. Your eyes are dry and all you want to do is sleep. But how could someone sleep when flashbacks of winsome memories are filling your mind, none of them helping for you to breathe. You can hear your heart pound in your head, but you can't feel it, emptiness filling your chest. However then you let go. But everybody's doing it in a different way. ***Based on a real story*** Copyright ©2014 PurpleUnicorn525

Hello to all! This is my entry to the amazing Freshman 15s Contest, titled A Poisoned Pear. When speaking of Johannes Skathi, the words lazy, worthless, and pay the damn rent get thrown around with alarming frequency. After flunking out of magical school, and punching out the guy down at the wizard’s employment office, Johan has ended up in a dead-end job as a rogue-hunter, hunting down all those who’ve broken magical law. Normally, the cases he takes on are small-time criminals; scam artists and petty thieves. But this isn’t a normal case. A powerful magical artifact has gone missing, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. After casting an unpopular vote, one of the members of the ruling Council is found dead in his home, with his ring stolen and his apprentice missing. Johan is sent down to bring the missing apprentice back, at any cost. But as secrets are revealed, and Johan is caught up in games of political intrigue and magical battle, he must decide who, if anyone, it is safe to trust. Johannes Skathi was sent in to hunt a murderer, but with the stakes increasing, he must ask himself; is he the hunter, or the hunted?

Alyssa Singh has never gotten over her first love; maybe it was because of how he simply smiled off her confession as his family drove away. Three years later, he's back with a girlfriend, and the news that's he has always been deaf in his right ear all along. Shaken by the news, Alyssa wonders if she has the right to even think she was his friend since she never noticed. But unable to let her feelings subside, she decides it’s time to get her message across, even if it means dealing with the pain of rejection again. Short Story | Freshman15s
