She moved like a sleepwalker. Her words seemed slurred, as if she didn't have the strength to open her mouth, her legs were falling with each step. In her hand was a katana that she waved carelessly.- where did she get that? "Kid, move away from that demon. He's not your brother anymore." "Get away! Yuji will come back to us, give him a moment! He's scared of you! Put the sword away, you bastard!" A pale, lifeless shadow of what it once was, for a split second it focused its entire consciousness on the image of its crying sister. But the man heard no more. He killed them all.

Once, they were everything to each other. Then something changed. A whisper became doubt. Doubt became distance. And love began to crumble beneath the weight of what neither could say. Somewhere between love and betrayal, they lost each other.

A Giyushino au in where shinobu has to leave for a long mission with Kanao, aoi is sent of to a mission as well since she finally built the courage to take the mantel of demon slayer. Wich makes Oyakata take the decision to send Giyu to the butterfly estate and babysit the butterfly girls despite never really interacting with them. Slowly but surely Giyu starts getting accustomed to living with them as well as starting to realize his feelings towards a certain insect hashira.

Not my idea all credit goes to @HdhsHdhd9 Sabito survives Final Selection and eventually becomes the Water Hashira. Because Giyu never carries the guilt of believing Sabito died in his place, he grows up much softer. He is still quiet and socially awkward, but instead of the cold, distant Giyu from canon, he is shy, gentle, kindhearted, and somewhat insecure. He smiles occasionally, gets embarrassed easily, and tends to apologize when he thinks he has caused trouble. Giyu is an accomplished Water Breathing swordsman, but he is not a Hashira when the story begins. Sabito remains stronger and serves as both his senior and mentor. Kanae also survives Dōma. Because Shinobu never has to bury Kanae and imitate her smile after her death, Shinobu develops differently too. She doesn't hide everything behind a cheerful expression. She is sharp-tempered, blunt, impatient, intensely protective, and rarely smiles. She's still intelligent and compassionate underneath, but she makes absolutely no effort to disguise when someone irritates her.

But during a mission, Shinobu is badly injured and Giyu catches her hand to stop her from falling. For the first time, he sees it. A tiny red thread wound around his finger. Running directly to hers. And Shinobu sees it too still she has her plans involving Dōma and Giyu still thinks he's undeserving of happiness. So instead of instant romance, knowing they're supposedly destined for each other makes everything more painful. Because eventually Giyu realizes: Shinobu is planning to cut the thread herself.
