Cassia was once a prized possession of the Roman emperors, the cruel and tyrannical brothers Geta and Caracalla. Used and discarded by Caracalla, Cassia's attempt to assassinate him ended in failure. But instead of execution, the emperors made a fatal mistake-they sentenced her to the gladiator arena. They thought her beauty would soften the crowd and her death would amuse them. They never expected her to survive. Cassia quickly earns an infamous reputation as The Jinx, a nameless, unstoppable force in the arena. Every time she steps into the blood-soaked sands, she defies the odds, winning battles no one believes she can. Fast, cunning, and fueled by a relentless thirst for revenge, Cassia bides her time, waiting for her chance to strike back at the emperors. Then Hanno arrives-a new gladiator with a mysterious past and a defiant spirit. Cassia soon discovers his secret: Hanno is the rightful heir, Lucius Verus, a prince robbed of his birthright by the very men she despises. Despite their initial clashes, an uneasy alliance forms between the two, bound by their shared hatred of the emperors.
