Poetry Collection // Upon the Stars We See is a deeply personal and politically charged chapbook that weaves together haiku, prose poems, and spoken word to explore the intersections of Indigenous identity, environmental grief, and the quiet violence of modern existence. Through minimalism and lyrical force, it constructs a celestial mirror-reflecting not only the realities of colonization and capitalism, but also the resilience, memory, and inherited strength of those who live through them.

Featured on @ScienceFiction | Josiah Li lives in a flooded world, where global warming has taken its toll and technology is intertwined in every aspect of daily life. To pass the time in between virtual classes, he finally takes the leap to sign up for a popular game, Starlia. He chooses the least popular class, a bard--good for providing support and crowd control. Josiah quickly rises to fame when he teams up with Starlia's number one player, Nathan Lum--who's totally handsome and charming, by the way. Josiah joins Nathan's guild, and from there he's introduced to the game's royalty. Turns out, Josiah is pretty good at gaming. So much so that he's invited by the game's company to fly out to their headquarters to meet Nathan and a few other guild members. The company is quick to admit that the game world is harboring many secrets, including a code that's key to building a weathering machine to save Josiah's broken world. Josiah and his guild set out on a quest, which includes defeating multiple strong bosses to reveal the code. As the flooding only worsens, Josiah and his guild mates begin a race against time, betting all of their hopes on unlocking the weathering machine. As their rivals race for the code in hopes of fame and wealth, Josiah risks his all for the game's secrets.

Back in 2017, I started writing this supposed to be poem about this tree that everybody loved. I soon forgot about it after that and Haven't written about it since until January. I found it again so I finished it. Before I found it again that last sentence that was written was "The tree was tall and wide with an oddly shaped hole in the middle of the trunk." Everything after that I continued to write in January. I was 12 when I started writing this, this year I'm turning 15 on November 5th. It's nothing much but just something I'd like to share. I think it's pretty good for something about a tree.

The smoke wraps tendrils around your legs and sinks into your skin. Dry coughs scrape their blunt nails down your throat and the smoke penetrates deeper, sliding a hand around your neck and s q u e e z i n g. Everything is blurry now. Your breath comes in short, sharp bursts. You hear hoarse sobs in between rasping coughs. Blood and saliva drips onto the dead grass. Too late. *** It's always the quiet, unassuming events that foretell the end. That's where the movies get it wrong. The world won't go out with a bang. It will slowly burn right in front of our eyes as we pretend that we like the warmth. Then when we finally come to our senses and we are no longer blinded by money and greed, it will be too late. A collection of short speculative fiction and poetry pieces that explore the fine line between dystopia and reality.
