Book 2: The South Season of the South's Legacies As summer comes to an end, the start of college is right around the corner. For this crew, it's a whole new chapter, one that changes everything. With a stronger focus on their studies, future careers, and discovering who they truly are, old friendships begin to fade into memories while new ones take their place. Jacqueline G. York, confident, bold, and unapologetically bougie, lives life on her own terms. She refuses to let anyone stand in the way of her goals. Stepping into an unfamiliar environment, she embraces her independence for the first time, only to cross paths with people she never expected to see again. Eugene L. Savage is hardworking, grounded, and quietly resilient. He takes pride in caring for the women in his life, especially his mother, who raised him on her own. With little knowledge of his father, Eugene channels that absence into motivation, pushing himself toward success. But growth isn't easy-and in the process of becoming a man, he often finds himself battling internal struggles. Jacqueline and Eugene have been together for a few months, now entering their first semester at the same college. As they navigate life on their own, they quickly learn that this new chapter comes with defining moments-mistakes that shape them, achievements that build them, love that challenges them, and choices that can change everything. Their first semester won't just be about school, it will be about growth, unexpected turns, and the people who come in and out of their lives. Cover Credit: @TheUrbanRoyalty

Gold in the Dust What if the moments that made you feel forgotten were actually preparing you for the person you were meant to become? Gold in the Dust is a story about dreams, failure, faith, hope, and the quiet journey of becoming. It is about a girl who once believed her grades could define her future. She tried, failed, cried, and doubted herself. But somewhere between the tears and unanswered questions, she discovered something no grade could measure: a voice, a dream, and a love for writing. She began to write. And slowly, the dream became bigger than her fear. This is a story about believing that you can fail without being a failure. A closed door does not mean the journey is over. Sometimes you must walk through seasons where nobody believes in you before you learn to believe in yourself-and in God. There is also something beyond what we can see. Perhaps somewhere in heaven, someone who loved us is looking down, praying for us, hoping we keep going. Maybe that is what GOD DID IT really means. Not that the journey was easy. Not that there were no failures. Not that every prayer was answered immediately. But somehow, through the impossible moments, God was still writing a story we could not yet understand. Sometimes we see one chapter, while God sees the entire book. We see the dust. He sees the gold. This is also a journey toward a legacy-one that may bring influence, opportunity, power, or wealth. But I never want to lose kindness along the way. I want success without forgetting people. I want power that lifts others. I want wealth that creates opportunities. I want my name remembered, but more importantly, I want my life to mean something. You may fail. You may fall. You may have to begin again. But never quit. There are still doors to open, dreams to chase, and a future you have not seen. Maybe one day you will look back and whisper: "Now I understand." "God did it." Because the gold was there. It was simply hidden beneath the dust.

Over the last 2-3 years, I have kept a list on my phone. Every time I learned a life lesson, I have wrote it here. Many are quotes from others, and some are just me. But this is the first time I'll be sharing my list with the world. Typically I only give it to people who need it, but I figured, who is going to read this anyway? Might as well share it for the chance that someone does need it. So here it is.

That afternoon was when everything changed. There was a knock at the door; my dad answered it. By the sound of it though, he wasn't too happy. "Chloe, it's for you," he yelled a few moments later. Who could possibly want to see me whilst I was on holiday? As I approached the door my dad stepped aside, and I saw who it was. The last person I wanted to see on our two week holiday. I had no idea what he was planning to do. And I had no idea what would come from it. ********** Everything seemed normal for seventeen year old Chloe Birch: her family, her friends, her school, her house; well apart from her abusive boyfriend. But her organised summer changed drastically in ways she had never even thought possible; in some ways good, but in some ways not. Who is it safer to trust ... the ones you know or the ones you don't know?
