Preston, the God of Fire, was dispatched to Earth with a singular, critical mission: to monitor the encroaching demonic forces, particularly Bill Cipher, that threatened Gravity Falls. His orders were explicit-maintain vigilance, observing their movements and intentions with the utmost diligence. He was even authorized to infiltrate their operations, to disrupt their plans if necessary. However, a complication arose. He found him...unfortunately, he fell in love with a mortal. He became deeply enamored with Ford Pines. After Ford disappeared into the portal, Preston grew distant and agitated. Ford's brother and the twins tried their best to help him, but he remained agitated. At first, they didn't know who he was until he revealed his identity as a god and shared his backstory-how he died and became a deity. He found himself inexplicably and profoundly in love with Ford, struggling to comprehend his deep affection for a mortal. He had never truly experienced emotions before, but Ford made him feel safe and accepted.
Upon their deaths, both Preston and Payton were presented with a profound choice in the afterlife: to remain in eternal rest or to embrace a new existence as deities. Both chose to become gods, but the nature of their newfound divinity was not their own to decide. Instead, their powers were intrinsically linked to the manner of their demise. Thus, Preston, consumed by fire, became the God of Fire, while Payton, having drowned in the ocean, was transformed into the God of the Ocean. Their tragic ends became the very source of their immense power, binding them forever to the elements that claimed their mortal lives.
