It's been 2000 years since the last age of dragons and all that remains is an abandoned canyon and a clutch of dormant, desiccated eggs. In the years since the dragons left, history has been rewritten, dragons have been relegated to myth, and the powerful female dragon wards are long since forgotten. A princess marked for assassination on her wedding night, an abandoned and street savvy orphan, a perfectly bred and created "mate", and an ancient crone all struggle to find their place in a rapidly and irrevocably changing sociopolitical landscape. Danger surrounds them on all sides as war looms between four nations, and across the sea, a dark and twisted dragon lord plots and waits. These four women must overcome their own limitations and those placed on them to courageously bring about a new age of dragons. Dragonriders of Pern meets The Handmaid's Tale in this women's fiction fantasy epic.

The midwife will call it mercy. She will hold a pillow over his face or put him outside for the frigid air to correct this mistake. He was never meant to be mine, but in that moment, I understand how much I love him.

Poet rants about how church's girl organization failed to help her

Children are a peculiar people. They are everything to come. Since children act on experience, we find they reflect our most instinctual selves. They can't mask their fear and they have yet to bury their dreams. Considered, I have written an essay reflecting on the value of children and the purpose it has brought to my every breath and every moment. Short Essay Reflection was inspired by June Osburn's speech about her hopes for their children to Serena when Serena held a gun to June. Comments and feedback are highly encouraged!

Several of my entries for Wattpad's #MyHandmaidsTale contest. (Disclaimer: I've never read the book or seen the miniseries-the contest rules stipulated that the writer couldn't use any specific characters or settings from either, so these stories are based on the novels' premise...)

Glancing down the line of pink, I wonder if these questions barrage my sisters' minds. I wonder if they, too, feel drowned in the pink and terrified of the red.

We were a different story. Though the world was a hellish wasteland around us; though villages were burned to the ground in the search for Fertile; though the government was more corroded than an old battery; we managed to be happy. Through the oppression and destruction, we remained us. But I'm afraid that's about to change.

I'll mostly be based off the book, because I haven't seen the Netflix Series.

What would you do if the whole world around you was falling apart, right before your eyes? "I remember everything about that day. The day President Hess took everything away from me. He took over all the TV's in the world, or so I thought. How weird we all thought that our TV's could be controlled so easily. For them to make us see what they wanted us to. That's when he stepped up to his podium and made his announcement stating everyone would be going through a screening process immediately for genetic diseases and disorders. My family and I joked around until there was a knock at the door. Two armed guards walked into the house, pushing my father back toward us. We were forced to walk outside with everyone else in the neighborhood. Some people already in their pajamas, even some people without shoes. The guardians, as President Hess calls them, kept everyone in line and in order as we all walked in a straight line in the direction of the nearest hospital. Walking into the unknown."

Healthy babies were supposed to be a handmaid's salvation and security, but everyone finds the wastelands in the end.

This is a found poem, which was inspired by Margaret Atwood's novel "The Handmaid's Tale".

This is my submission for #MyHandmaidsTale contest. I decided to take on the perspective of one of the daughters who were taken away from their mothers. 497 words.

A dystopian novel following several characters in their plight to escape the wasteland. A new government has taken over, but is it deadly enough to eliminate the fighting spirits of Eiden, Tae, Scarla and Odette. The genetic faults. The hopeless causes. Perfectly hidden among a sea of mass produced life. If you hear the alarm; they have already caught you. Where do the boundaries and deceit end and their old lives begin?

Somehow, Diana escaped a fate that, in her eyes, was worse than death. Somehow, the tests came back negative. Somehow, she was pronounced infertile. Of course, she knows this is false. After all, her son awaits her in Canada. But for now, Diana is a Martha. She quietly observes as the handmaidens of her household bear children for the Commander. And she plans her escape.

Hesychia, a child of the Greek god Hypnos, who escaped the Republic of Gilead and ran away to the mountains is visited one day by the daughter she bore to a wife in her dreams. She went on a mission to go get her daughter and bring her to the only other safe place she knew: Camp Half-Blood. Alice, daughter of a respected general in the Republic of Gilead, had always felt off. Like she didn't belong in this world. She had always been able to control her dreams, but she didn't know what to think when she had a dream of a woman who looked exactly like her. Pretend the events of PJO happened in this reality.
