Riley Porter came up with her own "happy place" in which she called it Planet Riley. In this world, Riley could do anything she wanted and there was nothing holding her back. No annoying siblings, backstabbing friends. Just the world that Riley had created with her mind. But one day, Riley gets in a serious car crash and ends up in a coma, and her mind goes into creative mode. While her family and friends are out of their minds with worry back in 'the real world,' Riley gets her wish - she really is living on Planet Riley.

The ups and downs of life

One day, as I was sitting, lost in thought about my upcoming birthday in February 2025, it suddenly hit me - I would be turning 18 the following year. In that moment, a wave of nostalgia for my lost childhood just washed over me. I wondered how much time had slipped away - time that could have been devoted to my hobbies, to the things I truly cherish. Did I ever pause to watch and realize what I truly loved, or was I just endlessly chasing academic goals, never truly stopping to connect with the things that made me happy? It made me wonder, how often do we overlook the importance of nurturing our passions in the chaos of our responsibilities? In those moments, a thought emerged - maybe it's essential to sometimes hit the pause button, to step back, and seek out our happy places.

This poem is about how you can see the same things in different ways and be completely consumed and soaked up in both dark and bright sides. But when we do it's real.
