Sebastian Grey always thought he was a fairly normal teenager -- good friends, decent grades, and a pretty sweet job in his foster brother's tattoo shop. But when Romany gypsies arrive in town, Sebastian discovers that his world is not what it seems. There is an age-old feud between his family and the gypsies -- and this isn't the only secret his brother has been keeping from him. His life is not his own. The girl he's been dreaming about has just turned up as school, and he feels compelled to protect her at all costs. Even if that means life might never be normal again * * * * (Please enjoy the opening chapter of Grey, the first book in my debut YA fantasy trilogy, published by HarperCollins as an e-book and paperback series, available at most online bookstores and Amazon)

This is the journey of a girl/woman so annoyed by the blatant exploitation of a story by the publishing house of HarperCollins, wherein fury at such aforementioned exploitation of a highly regarded author equals an informal, a subtitle, if you will, namely Go Set (fire to ) a Watchman, in which the annoyed, girl/woman, (really, where is the cutoff for womanhood and girlhood, serious question ), flays apart HarperCollins and it's affiliated employees and sellers who 'magicked' up a 'sequel' for To Kill a Mockingbird. Just to clarify, here's my disclaimer of sorts. I adore Harper Lee. I worship at the pinnacle of her writing, and aspire to achieve such results for the book that currently sullies her brilliance, her story, her life, and her memory. I hold no such regard for HarperCollins. In fact, I have to say I share the same opinion of snake's belly, just after its escaped a pigpen, as I do HarperCollins. For what HarperCollins has done to the reputation and integrity of an incredible, beautiful classic and it's author is the indeed the lowest one can imagine possible. (more on that later.) All previously published works belong to Harper Lee, and HarperCollins. All new materials, characters, and post-editing of the two novels bearing the name Harper Lee is mine own. The cover for this MOD has all credit and much, much, much more appreciation for the awesome @fantasticbookworm.

Seventeen-year-old Cordelia Koenig was sure of many things going into her last year of high school. For one, she wasn't going to stress over the senior project all her peers were dreading-she'd just use the same find-your-roots genealogy idea that her older sister used for hers. Secondly, she'd put all that time spent not worrying about the project toward getting reacquainted with former best friend and longtime crush Kodiak Jones who, conveniently, gets assigned as Cordelia's partner. All she has to do is mail in her DNA sample, write about her ancestry results and breeze through the rest of senior year. Done, done and done. But when Cordelia's GeneQuest results reveal that her father is not the man she thought he was but a stranger who lives thousands of miles away, Cordelia realizes she isn't sure of anything anymore-not the mother who lied, the life she was born into or the girl staring back at her in the mirror. If your life began with a lie, how can you ever be sure of what's true? AUTHOR NOTE: The Truth Project comes out October 13th with HarperCollins / Quill Tree Books! I'll be sharing a few pages each week until pub day. You can preorder here: https://www.harpercollins.com/products/the-truth-project-dante-medema?variant=32128454524962

They take their entertainment in the form of humiliation. They get what they want at the expense of their pawns. But they never pay. Chloe Whittaker has a hit list. But not exactly the murder kind. After her best friend is ripped from Arlington, punished for her fascination with climbing the hierarchy, she knows she has to end them. One by one. AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is a companion story to ICE LIKE FIRE, the sequel to SNOW LIKE ASHES. I say "companion" as it parallels the beginning events of ICE LIKE FIRE -- and as such, you will find a few minor spoilers for ICE LIKE FIRE. If you are the sort of reader who screeches in horror at the thought of a spoiler of any kind, LOOK AWAY NOW. But if you are the sort of reader who flips through the pages of a book, perusing lines here and there before you've quite finished it yet...well, read on, dear rebel reader. Read on. *** SUMMARY: "She was part of Summer, and Summer was part of her, and this land wouldn't abandon her too." Ceridwen Preben, princess of Summer, has spent her life plotting against her brother, Simon, the Summerian king. Simon has embraced the ruling family's reputation for using their conduit to keep their subjects in a state of bliss, and has spent his reign slowly driving Summer into ruin, filling everyone with carelessness and letting them turn a blind eye to Summer's rampant -- and deadly -- slave trade. But Ceridwen refuses to let her kingdom disintegrate, and with the help of her fellow rebel-in-arms, Lekan, she hopes to undo Simon's lethal dealings. But when Ceridwen uncovers Simon's deadliest plot yet, she starts to realize just how deep magic runs -- and that even though her kingdom is one of sunlight, with light, there always comes shadows. *** The first part of this story will appear on Tuesday, September 8. Parts will continue to be uploaded every Tues/Thurs through October 8. Look for ICE LIKE FIRE, out October 13 from Balzer + Bray/HarperCollins!
