Irie is new to the city and excited for the change in scenery. She doesn't know anyone, is working at a dead end job, and she lives in a dingy apartment in a bad neighborhood. Nonetheless, she's never felt so free. The only thing she has to complain about is the arrogant customer that has become one of her regulars.
Colson is the heir of his family's fortune and company but has yet to decide if he wants to work in the family business for the rest of his life. While searching for a place to be alone with his thoughts, he wanders into a diner he normally wouldn't be caught dead in. There he meets a clumsy woman who clearly doesn't know anything about the service industry and seems resistant to his advice to make her service more bearable. Yet, he finds himself unable to think of anyone else, and soon he becomes a regular customer.
Will someone like Colson, who lives the life of luxury, and someone like Irie, who lives in poverty in an attempt to reclaim her life, ever be compatible? Or will their clear differences, past and present lives get in the way?
