The darkness suffocates me. I can't see anything, and I don't remember anything either. I just remember falling. Falling. And now I'm here. An unbearable pain sprints up my right leg and I scream in agony before I start falling once again. Falling back into the darkness. ------------------------------------------------------------ Being chief, Hiccup Haddock rarely gets time to himself. So when the village allows him to take the day off, he happily agrees. He takes to the skies with his night fury, Toothless, meanwhile ignoring Astrid's warnings about the distant storm clouds, a mistake he will later regret. A horrible series of events sends Hiccup and Toothless to a foreign land with no way to get home. The pair find themselves completely lost.

Astrid ran away a month after she turned 18. Everyone believed she was dead, all except Hiccup. Hiccup was Astrid's boyfriend before she disappeared. Will Hiccup find her alive, or will he find her dead. Read the story to find out. (I did not make the art.)

Will Hiccup and Astrid make it through this, what will happen to Berk, and will changes break the gang up or pull them closer together? Author's Note: The first few chapter focus mainly on some Hicstrid fluff and it takes place after the events in How To Train Your Dragon 2. I wrote this story before Race to Edge came out so nothing from that is in here. Astrid's name means Divine Beauty in Old Norse, divine meaning godly (hint the title name). I will try to update as quick as possible you'll just have to bare with me. Also i do not own How to Train Your Dragon or anything related (characters, themes, ect.). Hiccup has loved Astrid for as long as he could remember and believes the only way for her to love him is, if he captures and kills a night fury. When he finally captures a night fury there is a change of plans, as he's been placed first in dragon training he plans to flee the village but gets caught and everything changes. Astrid who has always had a crush on Hiccup gets worried when she overhears a conversation the village was having about him, and decides to try and find him in the woods but instead discovers a big secret he hides. Hiccup Haddock III was sick and tired of his life. He was tired of getting pitied glances everywhere he went. He was sick of overhearing conversations about how ashamed his father must feel of him. But all that changed when he was given the privilege to kill a Monstrous Nightmare. He couldn't kill it, though. He wouldn't. He couldn't betray his only friend. The one being that didn't judge him. So he ran away. Ran away from his family and his home. Everyone thought he was dead, but when a mysterious dragon rider comes back to Berk with news, the visit doesn't go very well. The Berkians are Vikings; it's in their nature to be stubborn and they don't take too kindly to strange masked visitors that ride Night Furies. I'm going to tell you a story, a true one. It's our story.

This book tells the story of Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, a young Viking Prince, who is to succeed his father, Stoick Haddock, as King of Berk. However, Stoick's brother-inlaw, Spitelout Jorgenson, despises his elder and the young Prince. In a supposed training trip, to the cove, Stoick is killed by Spitelout and Hiccup is manipulated to believe himself responsible. In a panicked state, the young Prince flees Berk, in the attempt to run from his past and into self-imposed exile. 10 years later, Hiccup grows up in the company of the unholy offspring of lightning and a set of free-spirited men. When childhood friend, Astrid Hofferson and a mute elder remind the exiled Prince who he really is, Hiccup returns to Berk. Upon his return to reclaim his father's throne his uncle frames him and the court is shocked. When the Prince learns the truth, he duels his uncle and succeeds his father's throne. This book is a personal adaptation of the Lion King story, owned by Walt Disney Productions, the characters are owned by Dreamworks Studios.
