Violet has always been competitive. Her goal is simple: graduate at the top of her electrical engineering class. Disciplined, hard working, and determined, she's always the first to arrive and to leave. Being the class leader wouldn't be such a challenge if it weren't for the only obstacle in her way: Julian Bennett. Julian is infuriatingly good at everything. No matter the subject, no matter the project, he always manages to turn things into a competition- and somehow, he's always one step ahead of Violet. They never work together, the last time they did the professor had to intervene before their constant arguing tore the whole team apart. Both agreed to never work together again. Unfortunately, luck was not on their side. When Violet and Julian are selected to represent their university in a prestigious engineering competition, they're forced to work side by side for months. Ellie is a freshmen at Valor Academy, the school for over achievers. To be selected for Valor, a prospect must be exceptional in the following areas: athletics, academics, and character. It is difficult to be accepted, but attending the Academy means that you are surrounded by the most well rounded teens in America.
