WARNING: this takes place after the second book about Ilya and Shane by Rachel Reid. If you haven't read the books 'heated rivalry' and 'the long game' you might not understand this storyline. Two years after their wedding, Shane and Ilya both decided that it's time for them to start their own family. They knew it was gonna be a long process, but they knew they'd face it together. And then... there were Maeve and Elli. While Elli was a happy Child, singing all the frozen songs while walking to kindergarten, Maeve was her sisters opposite. And she was NOT a child anymore. She wouldn't bother to stay at the hollanovs for long. She knew, it'd only be a matter of time for them to pick Elli but not Maeve.

Falling into the Heated Rivalry rabbit hole was absolutely not on my 2025 bingo card-but a few Tarlos pages I follow on IG kept posting about Shane and Ilya, and well... here we are. I read Heated Rivalry and The Long Game in three days, loved them to pieces, and couldn't believe how similar the series feels to the actual content and emotional beats of the books.
